Suloinen pieni tyttö saapui tammikuussa maailmaan. Sain kunnian olla paikalla h-hetkellä, mutta myöhemmin oli lahjojen aika.

A cute little girl made her debut in January. I was honored to be able to be present at the very moment of her birth, but later it was time for presents.

Edelleenkään ei ole lintuhelistimen voittanutta.

I still haven't found something that would be better than the birdie rattle.

Onneksi kortti sentään on ihan originelli.

So for Christmas my brother and brother-in-law got some mustache made of porcelain.

Herkkyyttä rautarouvalle / Tenderness for a tough lady

Rakas mummoni täytti viime vuoden lopulla 88 vuotta. Siinä on nainen, jonka elämää, elämäniloa ja lujuutta ei voi muuta kuin ihailla. Varsinainen rautarouva, jonka syntymäpäiviä tullaan toivottavasti juhlimaan vielä vuosia tai jopa vuosikymmeniä.

My dear granny turned 88 in the end of last year. She is one lady whose life, the joy of life and toughness I can't help admiring. She is a grand lady, whose birthdays will hopefully be celebrated many years, perhaps even decades, to come.

Läpimurto / A breakthrough

Niin kauan kun olen korttiaskartelua harrastanut on mulla ollut yksi vaikeus: minkälainen kortti sopii miehelle? Yrityksiä on ollut monia, mutta yksikään ei ole ollut täysin mieleinen.

For as long as I've been making cards I've had the same problem: what kind of a card is suitable for a man? I've tried several styles but none of them have completely satisfied me.

Mutta nyt siihen on muutos, sillä tein läpimurron tässä ongelmassa. Ja olen niin ihastunut tähän malliin.
Nyt kysymys vaan kuuluu kuinka kauan kehtaan jakaa tällaisia kortteja kaikille miehille? :)

But now things are about to change for I have had a breakthrough. And I am so loving this card design.
The only problem now is how long I can use this same card style for men? :)

Ihka ensimmäisen viiksikortin sai kunnian vastaanottaa oma mieheni syntymäpäivänään. Ja pitihän sitä heti päästä lisää tekemään, kakkosen halusi veljeni, ihan vaan huvin vuoksi :)

My husband was the lucky receiver of the first ever mustache card, for his birthday. And right away I had to make another one, which my brother wanted, just for fun :)

Spessutilaus / A special order

Sain jokin aika sitten mielenkiintoisen ja hauskan tilaustyön. Tarvetta oli onnittelukortille naisparille, jotka rekisteröivät parisuhteensa. Se mikä siitä teki hauskan, oli toiveet korttia varten: onnittelujen sijaan "hurraa"-teksti ja kaksi lepakkoa :) Mainiot ideat, pilke silmäkulmassa on aina paljon hauskempi tehdä kortteja. Ja tämä hurraa täytyy kyllä varastaa...

A while back I got an interesting and fun order for a card. The order was for an congratulations card for two women getting married and what made so fun of it were the wished details on the card: instead of traditional "congrats" there should be "hurray" and somewhere in the card there should be two bats (in finnish language one of the "nicknames" for lesbians is bat. Don't ask me why :) ). I loved these ideas, it's always fun to make cards with a little bit of humor and fun. And this hurray idea is so worth stealing.

Tervetuloa / Welcome

Uuden vuoden myötä mai makingsissa puhalsi muutoksen tuulet ja tässä se on, uusi uljas logo ja ulkoasu.

With the new year came a big wind of change and here it is, my new logo and blog design.

Myös vesileima tulee muuttumaan, itse tuherrettu mehiläinen vaihtuu hieman hienostuneempaan versioon.

The watermark will be changing also, the bee that I had scribbled myself will be replaced with a more sophisticated version.

Kiitos tästä kaikesta kuuluu ihanalle ja taitavalle ystävälleni, joka teki nämä kaikki ihanuudet. Olen erittäin tyytyväinen asiakas.

Taaperopojalle / For a toddler boy

Jo tovi sitten ystäväni poika teki siirtymän vauva-ajasta taaperouteen täyttäessään 1 vuotta.

Olimme juhlistamassa tätä juhlaa lahjoin ja kortein! 

A while back my friend's son made the all important transition for baby to a toddler as he had his 1st birthday. We were there to celebrate the occasion with gifts and cards!

Lahjan kanssa lähdin tylsästi samalle linjalle kuin jo aiemmin viime vuonna.

Mutta kun nämä kerran silloin havattiin toimivaksi ideaksi, niin miksipä sitä muutamaan?

Kuten aiemminkin, ideat ja mallit tuli omasta päästä, langat erinäisiä puuvillalankoja.

With the present I was a little boring and went with an idea I already had used once.

But they turned out to be great the first time, so why change anything?

As before, the ideas and the structure were my own, the yarns are various cotton yarns.

Kortissa mentiin hillitymmillä väreillä ja ensikertalainen kirahvi pääsi matkaan. Samainen kirahvi päätyi myös lahjapussin kylkeen.

With the card I took a little more subtle approach and a giraffe was a first timer for me. The same giraffe was also on the side of the gift bag.

Oi miten hauskaa olikaan käydä läpi mitä kaikkea sitä on tullut tehtyä viime vuonna. Sitä ihan itsekin pysähtyy ihmettelemään ja ihailemaan :)

I had so much fun going through all my projects from 2011. I had to stop and admire :)

Vallan vaikeaa oli kyllä rajata kymmeneen suosikkini, osa oli helppo päättää, kun taas jotkut jätin surumielin pois.

It was really difficult to narrow them down to 10. While some were easy to choose, others I was really sad to leave out.

Tämä joulu on yksinkertainen / This Christmas is simple

Tämän joulun odotus ja valmistelu on mennyt hyvinkin yksinkertaisesti, yhdistelmänä 3-vuorotyö ja perhe-elämä kun ei ollutkaan kaikkein helpoin ja vähän aikaa vievä olomuoto.

Mutta ei se mitään, ei joulu aina kaipaa hössötystä ja krumeluuria.

The preparations for this Christmas have been very simple for me. The combination of working in three shifts and family life hasn't been the most easiest and less time consuming way of life.

But that's fine, there is no need to go crazy with Christmas every year.

Joskus on hyvä olla yksinkertainen. Sillä linjalla nämäkin kortit.

Sometimes it's just nice to be simple. Along those lines are these cards too.

Myyjäisiä varten käynnissä on ollut varsinainen korttitehdas, josta on syntynyt jo monenlaisia kortteja. Täysin tyhjiin tuli kulutettua jo aiemmin mainitsemani My Mind's Eyen 12 days of Christmas, jonka värimaailma hurmasi mut tyystin. Niiden perinteisten punaisen ja vihreän ohi kiri tällä kertaa pinkki, turkoosi ja lime, jotka yhdessä hillitympien sävyjen kanssa sai aikaan kirpsakan kivoja kortteja.

For the craft fair I've had a little card making factory of mine own which has produced cards in various styles. The one ingredient I used 'till the last piece was My Mind's Eye's paper set called 12 days of Christmas. The colors in the papers are to die for! So in these cards the traditional red and green got run over by pink, turquoise and lime green, which together with the little less shocking colors created something sparkly and cute.

This card I'm especially proud of since I used a technique I've been wanting to use
for a long time. I stamped the image with a clear stamp that I colored with

Pilttipurkkeja on kertynyt luvaton määrä tämän pienen taaperon elämän aikana, vaikka valikoimassamme on ollut vain hedelmäsoseet. Alusta asti järjetön määrä lasijätettä on tuntunut hurjalta ja uutta käyttötarkoitusta näille pienille viehättäville purkeille on mietitty kuumeisesti.

Even though our little one only eats/ate ready made fruit purees we have managed to gather quite an amount of glass jars. From the beginning I've had a hard time and heavy heart handling them, the sheer amount of trash is amazing. All that time I have been trying to figure out a new use for these cute little jars.

Ja sitten se tuli. Aina luotettava inspiraation lähde Pinterest tarjosi avun. Idea ja oma pähkäily tuotti tulosta ja pilttipurkit toisensa perään on saaneet takin ylleen.

And then I found it. The always so helping Pinterest came to the rescue. The idea and a little of thinking of my own got into good use and now a jar after jar is getting little lacy love around them.

Nämä luomukset pääsevät sunnuntaina todelliseen testiin, kun suuntaan joulumyyjäisiin kaupittelemaan niitä. Peukut pystyyn... :)

These creations will be put to a big test on sunday as I am going to be selling them at a craft fair. Fingers crossed... :)

Kulkuset / Jingle all the way

Tällä kertaa kulkuset on kuitenkin piilossa, linnun sisässä.
Vauvalahjaperinteeksi muodostuneet linnut pääsevät tositestiin, kun vien näitäkin myyjäisiin myytäväksi.

This time the jingle is hidden, inside the little birdie.
These somewhat traditional baby gifts are going to be but to a real test when I'm taking some to be sold at the craft fair.

Joulu tulla jollottaa / Christmas time is coming

Ensimmäistä kertaa ikinä olen näin aikaisin liikkeellä joulukorttien kanssa. Yleensä olen tehtaillut omat kortit parina päivänä juuri ennen viimeistä postituspäivää.
Mutta nyt ei olekaan kyse omista korteista, vaan myyntiin menevistä, joten täytyykin olla ajoissa :)

For the first time ever I am making Christmas cards this early. Usually I have made my cards just few days prior to the last possible delivery date.
But now I am not making cards to my use, but to be sold, so I have to be early :)

Joulukorttitarpeeni koostuu tänä vuonna kolmesta My Mind's Eyen joulupaperisetistä, josta ensimmäisenä 12 days of Christmas.

My supply for this year are My Mind's Eye's three different paper sets, first one of them being 12 days of Christmas.

Paperit pysyy, mutta koristeet vaihtelee. Tästä kortista tuli heti yksi suosikkini, glitterporo on mahtava :)

So the papers are a set thing but the accessories are changing. This card instantly became on of my favorites, can't help loving the glittered deer :)

Perhosten parissa jälleen / Butterflies revisited

Aiemmin jo esittelinkin ensimmäisen version glitterperhosten ja kraftin yhdistelmästä.
Sittemmin sain korjattua Martha Stewartin punchin ja pääsin tekemään mieluisemman version kortista.

Earlier I introduced the first version of the card with glitter butterflies and kraft.
After that I was able to fix my Martha Stewart punch and got to make a better an prettier version of the card, more to my liking.

Ja kun vauhtiin pääsin, tein heti kaksi :)
Nämä ovat myyntiyksilöitä, marraskuun lopun myyjäisiin.

And once I got onto it, I made two :)
I will be, hopefully, selling these at the craft fair in the end of the month.
